Blood Orange Olive Oil Cake

It’s citrus season here in California and as a food photographer I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to photograph these gorgeous blood oranges in a delicious recipe. We get a bi-monthly harvest box from Talley Farms and they have been loading the boxes up with beautiful cara cara oranges, blood oranges, tangerines and more. If you’re local to San Luis Obispo County I highly suggest investing in local farms through their Harvest Boxes!

The recipe for this stunner of a bake comes from Claire Saffitz cookbook, Dessert People. The recipe was easy to pull together and turned out wonderfully! The olive oil is present but not overwhelming and the cake is citrusy and just the right amount of sweet.
